Celebrate, Educate & Give Back!

It’s that time of year…spreading good will and cheer! The annual International Design and Furnishings Association (IFDA) holiday party was last Thursday evening at the Boston Waterworks Museum. It was such a great evening! The venue was stellar. It was unique and atmospheric. The Waterworks Museum is located on the site of the original Chestnut Hill Reservoir and pumping station. The pumping station was built in the 1880’s and was used until the 1970’s. The site was taken offline and moved to the Quabbin Reservoir, however the Chestnut Hill location still serves as a back-up for emergencies.

As you entered the building the Christmas tree was lit with brilliant white lights and a taste for what was in store. The massive machinery was impressive and the building itself a testament to the craftsmanship of early architecture. The machinery was dramatically lit creating a festive holiday ambience. A nice touch was the sponsor’s logos projected on the brick wall overhead…I was sure to snap a pic of The Cabinetry’s logo being featured!

The holiday party is always a good time…members are free to socialize and enjoy each other’s company. The only real agenda of the night is to simply have fun! In honor of the Christmas spirit, IFDA likes to “give-back” to the community and each year makes a sizable donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) with the help of all it’s generous members. The RMHC has been in operation since 1974 and is dedicated to “making children happier and healthier by keeping families together; a place that feels like home”. I’m glad The Cabinetry is able to be part of such a charitable and formidable organization, it really reinforces what the true meaning of Christmas should be!
