A great way to start with a remodel is to look to art as inspiration!  Do you own a favorite piece?  If not- select a painting, photo or other form of art as a way to set the tone of an entire space.  The art can be the focal point from where you generate a color palette and mood.  It will infuse the space with your personal style and bring delight to you every time you see the piece.  I often use art as my inspiration when pulling together a space.  Below are just a few of my favorite artists!  I’ve also included great resources online where you can find just the right piece that speaks to you…

Kevin Russ – Road Fox: The perfect print to accompany a minimalist or a rustic modern interior (so hip right now!).  I love his candid shots of nature and wildlife!  I actually purchased one of his prints a few years ago.  It’s perfect above a live edge bench in my kitchen similar to the one below.  It’s the perfect statement when you first enter my home.

Britt Bass Turner – Apple: Beautiful, fun colors and pattern!  Perfect for a bedroom or living room.

I love the way these abstract pieces below infuse the space with color and energy!  The rose-colored wall in the photo below is taken from the painting just like the yellow vase on the mantle in yellow.

The neutral earth tones in the painting above are paired with warm, natural wood furniture.  The black Eames style chairs pick up on the dramatic dark black in the painting creating a nice contrast to the light woods.  The clean simple lines of the furnishings work nicely with the soft textural elements of art work.

Michelle Morin – Five Whales Stacked: I could see this illustration in a bathroom with a navy & white color scheme!  Perfect for a costal interior as in the bathroom below.  A fun tile on the bathroom floor adds whimsy as does this watercolor.

Drew Doggett – Kisses: I am currently coveting this wonderful black & white photo for my bedroom.  I can picture it hanging over my bed!  Paired with white linen sheets, a simple wood bed frame and maybe even a cow hide rug!

Michelle Armas – Spencer Print: I could see this painting paired with lush velvet upholstered furnishings in blues and chartreuse similar to the room below.  The color of the furniture is taken from the abstract art piece that ties the room together and creates a strong focal point in room.
