In Hopes of Spring…

Well last week was officially the first day of Spring and we only had a quick glimpse of the sun, with another impending snowstorm on the horizon I was reminiscing about my Costa Rican vacation…missing the sun, wildlife and warm weather. I thought I’d share a few more pics in honor of the approaching summer months as I know we could all use a pic-me-up after the long, cold winter we have had here in New England!A must see in Costa Rica is the Manuel Antonio State Park. Not only is the beach and water sublime there is a nice hike to the beach filled with all kinds of wildlife sightings along the way. I was lucky enough to see a sloth with her baby right by the entrance of the beach area. It’s here that monkeys abound and allow for a an up-close and personal viewing. It was an absolutely amazing experience!

A view from a local restaurant and public beach in Manuel Antonio near the State Park…Another “not to miss” activity is the Cloud Forest in Monteverde Costa Rica. The hanging bridges amidst the tree canopies is breathtaking! I was able to do both the suspended bridges and the zip line. I highly recommend both since the bridges allow you a leisurely stroll to take in the beauty of the forest and grab some pics while the zip-line is fun and exhilarating!

Another fun activity was touring the Don Juan Coffee Plantation where we saw the perfect rainbow, made friends with the owners dog, Tequila (who had the best smile!!), and learned all about coffee; how it is harvested and roasted. Some of the best coffee in the world is grown in Costa Rica and it supports a large portion of their economy.
